About Me & My credentials

Licensed in Texas as a psychologist, I trained in psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University.  I am experienced in counseling and psychotherapy with adults, older teenagers, and the elderly.  I have been employed in counseling centers serving adults and college students, and established my private practice in Austin in 1986.

My specialties include:
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Loss or Grief
  • Relationship Issues
  • Aging Issues
  • Gay Lesbian Concerns
  • Dissociative Disorders
About half of the clients I have seen in the past 20 years have had dissociative disorders generated by severe childhood abuses.  Often they did not realize the effect of dissociation in their lives, but were having problems with memory, "black-out" times, being thought "flaky" or liars, and having panicky reactions to what should be rather innocuous stimuli.  Sometimes aware that they were treated harshly as a child, they hadn't remembered the full extent of mistreatment and neglect they suffered.  Their lives seemed to be becoming more chaotic, and they worried they might be "crazy."  Recovery from such trauma is a difficult process, requiring commitment to healing by both client and therapist, AND healing does happen, slowly, and peace is found.

I also help individuals and couples needing help with such problems as depression, anxiety, divorce, parenting issues, and the general daily stresses and feelings of discontent which can affect us all.  The list below may suggest topics of concern to you:
